Friends of Stockley Park

The Friends of Stockley Park are a small volunteer group who are passionate about looking after our local park. We work in partnership with Wigan Council to maintain and enhance our park, and continue to develop it to meet the needs of the community.
We have so far achieved two new benches, a picnic bench, new planters and a community orchard. We have worked with a local business to begin turning a fallen tree into an eco seating area and have recently had the electricity substation screened off. The existing play sign has been refurbished and we now have a new sign and noticeboard. We have held a community bulb planting morning and do regular community litter picks. We receive help with ground maintenance and gardening from Firtree CIC and Duke of Edinburgh volunteers.
Thanks to a donation from Shevington Parish Council, we planted the first living Christmas tree in the village. Although small at the moment we hope that this will be something that the whole community and future generations will enjoy.
Going forward we hope to install an accessible gate and path, outdoor gym equipment for the all the community to use, a wildflower meadow, another bench and some raised beds for sensory plants.
If anyone has any suggestions or ideas for the park or would like to get involved volunteering please do not hesitate to contact us at . . . this address. We are an inclusive group and are happy for any help, and members to take on roles to promote the upkeep of the park for future generations. You can give as much or as little time as you want to help maintain the park.
If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact us.
